Authorized users are

• members of the teaching and research staff employed by or otherwise accredeted to Turku university whether full-time ort part-time
• students enrolled or accredited to Turku university for the purpose of full-time or part-time attendance
• individual members of the public registered as users of Turku university library or information service
• individual members of the public permitted to use the Turku university library or information services
• walk-in users

Permitted for authorized users

• for research, teaching and private study purposes

Printing, downloading commercial use

• to print and/or download individual articles and other individual items (from searches of the licensed material), but no more than one chapter, per title, per authorized user
• to reproduce single copies of individual articles from the licensed material in hard copy print form, but not electronically, for distribution without charge in hard copy form, but not electronically, to individual libraries of not for profit, non commercial organisations in accordance with generally accepted fair use principles. No right or license is hereby granted to any person provided with such a copy or otherwise deal with that individual article

Creating hyperlink

• create a hypertext link to any part of the licensed material provided that no person other than an authorized user may use such hypertext link

Course and study packs

• with the consent in writing of the licensor first obtained in respect of each such use, reproduce up to 1 chapter per title per course from the licensed material in printed hard copy and electronic course packs and study packs to be used in the course of instruction and/or in virtual and managed environments (including but not limited to virtual learning environments, managed learning environments, virtual research environments and library environments) hosted on a secure network. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and copyright owner. Course packs in non-electronic non-print perceptible form, such as braille, may also be offered to authorized users.

Prohibited for authorized users

General

• make the licenced material, or any element of it, available by any means to persons other than authorised users
• make the licenced material or any part of it available by remote access to any persons other than authorised users
• make mass, automated or systematic extractions from or hard copy storage of the licenced material
• use the licenced material to create any derivative work, product or service, or merge the licenced material with any other product, database, or service
• alter, amend, modify, translate, or change the licenced material

Commercial use, selling

• sell, distribute, license, rent or otherwise exploit the licensed material, or any element of it, for any commercial purpose
• undertake any activity that may have a damaging effect on the licensor's ability to achieve revenue through selling and marketing any part of the licenced material

Distributing

• make the licenced material, or any element of it, available on, or by, electronic bulletin boards, news groups, web sites, FTP or any other means of posting or transmitting material on the internet, an on-line service or wide area network

Copyright

• remove or obscure the licensor's copyright notice from licenced material including any downloaded material whether in electronic format or hard-copy print-outs
• otherwise use the licenced material supplied in accordance with this agreement in a manner that would infringe the copyright or other proprietary rights contained within it

Access via network at any time the licensor's server, or as the case may be any service provided by an agent on its behalf, for the purpose of accessing the licensed material.
