Covidence Guide

Adding full texts to Covidence

  • The references are provided with a DOI link that takes you to the publication's website. To view the DOI link, click on "View Abstracts & IDs". If you are connected to the University of Turku network (VPN connection), the full texts of paid materials will also be accessible, provided that your organisation has a licence for them directly from the publisher.

  • However, it is possible that the full text is available to your organisation through a different provider, as indicated by the Covidence DOI link. Check availability using the "Checking the full text" guide below.
  •  Full text articles can also be downloaded from Covidence in pdf format.

"Checking the full text

1. Check the full-text links

Click on the full-text links and icons that appear in the database. The links are often named "Volter". To identify access, make sure you are logged into the database via the library's website.

2. Check Volter

Copy the name or DOI number of the article you need. Paste the article title or DOI into the Volter search box. Sometimes it is necessary to include quotation marks around the name of an article to search for a phrase that appears consecutively. E.g. "Nurse leaders as managers of ethically sustainable caring cultures".

3. Google Scholar

Copy the name of the article you need. Paste the article title into the Google Scholar search box. Sometimes it is necessary to include quotation marks around the name of the article to search for a phrase that occurs consecutively. For example, "Nurse leaders as managers of ethically sustainable caring cultures". Google Scholar locates material from both paid databases to which an organisation subscribes and from open access repositories.

4. Check the National Repository Library collection. Note! In spring 2025, the National Repository Library will not be in use.

University students and staff can request free copies of journal articles from the National Repository Library in Kuopio. Please check whether the National Repository Library has the issue of the journal you need. Please include the exact publication details of the article with your order. You can collect a paper copy of the article you have ordered from the Feeniks Library Customer Service Desk.

5. Check other libraries

You can check whether other university libraries have access to the material you need. Local access is available from library computers that have already been registered for use by customers.

6. Check the possibility of interlibrary loan

However, if the material is not available in local libraries, it may be available for interlibrary loan from other parts of the world. Articles can be ordered through the interlibrary loan service.
