Keep track of new books effortlessly through library databases. Both Volter and Finna allow you to save your searches, order RSS feeds, and also receive alerts straight to your email. Stay ahead with the latest arrivals in your field of interest and never miss out on new additions!
To save searches and set up alerts in Volter or Finna, you need to create an account on the platform. Once you have saved your search, you have the option to set up alerts. Alerts can notify you when new items that match your saved search criteria are added to the database. This is particularly useful for ongoing research or collecting specific types of information.
Once you log in to Volter, you can save your searches and results as favorites by clicking the pin symbol below the search bar or next to the result. You can find your saved favorites by clicking the same symbol on the right top corner of the page. By clicking the RSS feed or Set an alert for this search icon you can set alerts. In Finna, you may save searches you have found useful to easily find them again by selecting Your Account → Saved searches. The Save search button is at the bottom of the search results page. The homepages of different libraries are a convenient way to find new titles purchased by the library, yet the newest information comes directly from publishers. They often release announcements of new publications even before they actually come out. You can easily subscribe to newsletters on publishers’ homepages to receive information on new and soon-to-be-released publications, sales and so on. You can set an alert so that Google or Google Scholar searches the web on a regular topic gathering hits on a topic of interest from a range of sources (including news sources, videos and blogs).
You can run a number of alerts concurrently, and revisit your Google Alerts account to modify / add / remove alerts.
