Open publishing - why and how?

General description Library's Open Science specialist will tell you how a researcher benefits from open access publishing, why it is important to publish openly, what does it mean, how to do it and what does it cost or does it cost anything.
Subjects to be covered

Different ways of open access publishing:

  • Publishing an article in an OA repository or parallel publishing an article or final draft version in the university's OA repository UTUCRIS = Green OA: what does this mean, how to do it, what different services are there in our university?
  • University's OA repository vs. publishing an article on a personal website / social media
  • Publishing an article in an open access journal = Gold OA: what does it mean?
  • Making an article freely accessible in a journal that requires a subscription fee by paying an article processing charge = Hybrid OA and APC charges, how to handle these?
  • How to select a high quality OA journal (DOAJ, JUFO)
  • ORCID identifiers
