As open access publishing has increased, so have scam attempts. These so-called questionable/predatory OA publishers are only in it for the money, and may collect large author fees or their peer review process does not fulfil the generally accepted requirements. You can also search for open access journals with JUFO rating through the Publication Forum or choose Open access as the search criteria on large journal databases like Scopus and WebofScience.
