Volter Basic Search

Search the Volter database


  • Boolean operators must be written in capital letters (AND/OR/NOT). The default operator is AND.
  • Truncate with an asterisk (*), mark phrases with " ". You can also use advanced search.
  • The books from EEBO (Early English Books) and  EEB (Early European Books) can be found on the International articles (Primo) tab page.
  • The Volter database does not include the books ECCO (Eighteenth Century Online).
  • Patron information and loan renewal.
  • At the moment fees can be paid online only in Volter Classic
  • Theses and dissertations.
  • The books are indexed using the YSA (Finnish General Thesaurus).
  • The electronic books are indexed in English.
  • Books and journals written in the Cyrillic script are found best by searching with Latin transliteration according to the international standard. Notice, that the standard was slightly changed in 1995.

The records including both the words "English" and "phonetics". Use for refining the search.

phonetics OR pronunciation

The records including either the word "phonetics" or "pronunciation" (or both of them). Use for combining synonyms etc.
