Instructions and guides for Turnitin:
Please note that you will always receive an automatic message from the Turnitin system when the student submits the thesis. However, you will only receive the above-mentioned email once the student has filled in the necessary information on the UTUKandi form.
1. Conduct the final Turnitin report analysis for the thesis on the Moodle area.
2. Open the UTUKandi form from the link you received by email and check the information that the student has filled in.
3. Confirm that you have conducted the final Turnitin report analysis by clicking “Yes” (image 1).
Image 1. Supervisor’s view if the thesis submitted to Turnitin and the information on the form are correct and the supervisor can approve the Turnitin report.
Note: As the supervisor, you can also return the form (and the thesis) for the student to edit if you notice errors in the information on the form or the Turnitin check reveals issues that have to be corrected (image 2).
In order to return the form (and the thesis) to the student, click “No”, write instructions for the student on the form, and send the information to the student by clicking “Save and proceed to confirm”. The form will open into a draft page where you can check the information and, if necessary, go back by clicking “Edit”. When you are finished, click “Confirm and lock the information” on the draft page. The form stays in a format that looks like a draft but the information is locked and you cannot edit it further. The student receives the information you have filled in by email, can do the necessary changes, and resend the form for your approval.
If at this point any changes are made to the thesis, the student’s earlier submission to Turnitin has to be deleted so that they submit the corrected version of their thesis.
Image 2. If corrections have to be made to the thesis or the information on the form, the supervisor has to select “No” and give the student instructions for corrections in the additional information field.
4. Open the thesis document on the form and insert the approval and grade information on the form. Remember that Bachelor's theses must be evaluated within three weeks of its submission for evaluation.
5. When you are finished, save the form by clicking “Save and proceed to confirm” so that the form is saved as a draft and you can still make corrections by clicking “Edit”. When you are finished, click “Confirm and verify the information”.
