Faculty of Humanities

The intermediate studies of the major subject/degree programme include a bachelor’s degree seminar (proseminar) and the bachelor’s thesis. The seminar, bachelor’s thesis and the maturity test are altogether 10 ECTS. When writing the bachelor’s thesis, use the Faculty's thesis template. The seminar and the bachelor’s thesis are graded on the scale 0–5. The maturity test is graded pass/fail. The maturity test is taken in the electronic Exam system on the basis of the approved bachelor’s thesis. 

 

Faculty of Education

The major subject’s intermediate studies in the Bachelor of Education degree require that the students write a bachelor’s thesis. The extent of the bachelor’s degree is 8 ECTS and it is graded on the scale 1–5. More information is available on the Faculty’s intranet pages (BDP in Early Childhood Teacher Education).

 

Faculty of Medicine

  • Institute of Biomedicine

The major subject’s intermediate studies in the Bachelor of Science degree require that the students write a bachelor’s thesis of 6 ECTS. The thesis is graded on the scale 0–5, the evaluation is based on the assessment of different parts of the thesis as individual sections. Instructions for writing the thesis are available on the Moodle course for bachelor’s thesis for the ongoing academic year as well as on the open Moodle course "LuK-tutkielma info" (in Finnish).

  • Department of Nursing Science

The major subject’s intermediate studies in the Bachelor of Health Sciences degree require that the students write a bachelor’s thesis of 6 ECTS. The thesis is graded pass/fail. Instructions for writing the thesis are available on the Moodle course “Tutkielmaseminaari” (in Finnish) for bachelor’s thesis for the ongoing academic year.

 

Faculty of Science

The bachelor’s thesis is a literary work that is included in the intermediate studies of the major subject. The thesis is 6–10 ECTS and it is graded either pass/fail or on the scale 1–5 depending on the department. The practices for writing the thesis vary between the departments. Faculty of Law

The Bachelor of Laws seminar (15 ECTS) includes a specialisation period and thesis. The thesis is 7ECTS of the 15 ECTS module. The thesis is marked in the study record as 3 ECTS which is the extent of section that is continued from the seminar work. The recommended length of the thesis is 20 text pages. The thesis is graded on the scale 0–5. 

 

Faculty of Technology

The bachelor’s thesis is a literary work that is included in the intermediate studies of the major subject. The thesis is 6–10 ECTS and it is graded either pass/fail or on the scale 1–5 depending on the department. The practices for writing the thesis vary between the departments. Turku School of Economics

The major subject’s intermediate studies in the Bachelor of Economics degree require that the students write a bachelor’s degree of 10 ECTS. More information is available on the Faculty’s intranet pages.

 

Faculty of Social Sciences

For the bachelor's degree, the student writes a bachelor’s thesis in their major subject of 10 ECTS, which includes the seminar. Closer instructions are available in the curriculum of each subject. The seminar and the bachelor's thesis are graded either on the scale 0–5 or pass/fail.
