What to consider when writing your bachelor's thesis

When writing your bachelor's thesis, you will become familiar with the practices of scientific writing and scientific principles in your discipline, while at the same time getting practice in writing an undergraduate thesis. It is the first academic thesis that demonstrates the expertise and knowledge you have acquired in your field. When writing the thesis, you will independently become familiar with using source material and data, the key research methods and ethical principles in your discipline, and develop your critical thinking and argumentation skills.

You can find more information on your department's practices and instructions for writing a bachelor’s thesis in the study guide and on the faculty’s web pages. You can find links to the faculties’ guidelines on the subpage “Faculties’ guidelines and templates.

When writing a bachelor’s thesis, you will also have to consider issues related to accessibility and possible copyright requirements. More information is available on the subpages “Accessibility” and “Copyright and publication”.

Do not be anxious about writing your bachelor's thesis! It is your first broader scientific text, so the level of scientific writing is not the same as what is required of an experienced researcher. Remember that the beginning is often the hardest part – good luck with your writing!
